Making Mum's life easier - Gina Ford
I heard about this at one of my ante-natal classes and thought it sounded worth a read. I’m a great believer in gaining as much knowledge as possible before I embark on something new.
I flicked through it during my pregnancy and thought it sounded a bit too regimented and wouldn’t be for me. However, after 4 weeks of no sleep and trying to demand feed I decided to have another read to see if I could gain any tips. It is the best thing I did; Gina explained a lot about babies sleeping and feeding patterns that I had no clue about.
I started to follow the routines and felt more relaxed about what I was doing and after a few weeks I managed to get my baby to bed by 7.30pm every night. I would love to say she started to sleep through the night but even following the routines my lovely baby still looked for night feeds. Once I gained my confidence and learned more about my baby and her individual needs I was able to adapt the routines to suit us.
This may not be for everyone but it gave me the confidence and comfort I needed, and made me feel that I was doing right by my baby. I am an organised person who likes structure so this approach was perfect for me, although it was better once I relaxed a bit and adapted the routines to fit us. I am so glad I bought this book as it provided me with so much useful information, which I didn’t find anywhere else.
